Karl Zachar is the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Acquisitions at athenahealth. Mr. Zachar is responsible for identifying partnership and M&A opportunities that drive revenue and operational improvements at athena. Deal types include: distribution, new revenue streams, and enhanced technical expertise for athena and its physician providers. Partnership targets are companies that can leverage our physician network to help athena increase its market presence both in private practice and large hospital systems. Mr. Zachar is currently focused on implementing athena’s hospital ACO strategy and helping hospitals coordinate care with their non-employed, affiliated doctors.
Previously, Mr. Zachar was a senior manager at IntrinsiQ, LLC. IntrinsiQ is an oncology software and data company based in Waltham, MA. Karl graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College and earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School. When not working or spending time with his family, you can usually find Mr. Zachar training for a triathlon that he is attempting to “survive”. Last summer Karl completed the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon and the 190 mile Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). Contact info:
